Capacitors can hold electrical energy efficiently for a short time. One company is suggesting their new design of capacitors as a way of storing braking energy in vehicles.
Skeleton Technologies – have UCGEN3 – next generation ultra capacitors, using “Curved graphene technology”
Company claims:
- Maintenance-free
- Near full efficiency
- Operating temperature range -40oC to 65oC.
- 60 times the power density compared with batteries
- 30% more efficient than batteries
- No lithium, cobalt or other “harmful materials”
Their aim is for these to be used in vehicles for storage and return of braking energy to make hybrid Heavy vehicles more possible.
