About
Purpose
The purpose of this site is to explain the ideas and concepts in a way that everyone can understand. As Einstein said, “If you can’t explain something to a six year old, you probably don’t understand it.“
The author is a mathematician who has no allegiance to any of the particular industries mentioned, but is used to reading, analysing and understanding academic papers about maths, physics and chemistry.
This is thus an independent view.
The world faces a huge problem. We believe there is a good set of potential solutions, but many of the current main-stream proposals seem to be either totally impractical, or just fiddling around the edges. Western governments are doing too little too late and just hoping someone else will come up with a global solution.
Well this is one.
Who are we ?
The website presents a set of ideas and solutions from a family of Mathematicians and Physicists. Between us we have three Cambridge mathematicians, one Oxford Maths & computing, one Imperial Physicist and one Cambridge Natural Scientist, with two PhDs in Maths and ongoing PhDs in Physics and Astrophysics.
We are used to analysing information, solving problems and reading & understanding academic papers and technical reports. We have no connection with the industries mentioned in this website, but have identified some really good existing ideas and come up with several completely new ones, which put together could solve the problem of global warming and restore the planet to safety.
The basic set of ideas was first proposed by a first year Maths undergraduate in 2008 shortly after Prof. MacKay, published his book, Sustainable Energy Without the Hot Air. Having taken the idea to Prof. MacKay, Prof MacKay was so thrilled by it, that he asked the first year to present it as a paper to his (Prof MacKay’s) research group. That original pdf can be found here.
