Practically Carbon Free

Practical methods for reaching zero carbon globally

Welcome to the Practically Carbon Free website

We urgently need to change our lifestyles and society to stop damaging the planet that supports us.
The problem of becoming carbon free is undoubtedly one of the greatest challenges facing our civilisation today.

There is hope.

Many changes will be required, but fortunately a range of new potential solutions are becoming available.

This site explains and explores these options, both in general and in some technical depth.

We hope you will explore these pages and learn more and be encouraged about how together we can build a future that will help our planet to sustain us and the generations to come.

Notes on References and external websites.

All links within the text of these pages are internal links to other pages within the website.

All references and links to external websites are listed at the bottom of each page.

One of the main original references, for a full analysis of the world’s energy needs, was Sustainable Energy Without the Hot Air. The book was written 10 years ago, but has important lessons and analysis.

The website presents a set of ideas and solutions from a family of Mathematicians and Physicists. Between us we have three Cambridge mathematicians, one Oxford mathematician & computer scientist, one Imperial Physicist and one Cambridge Natural Scientist, with two PhDs in Maths and ongoing PhDs in Physics and Astrophysics.

We are all used to analysing information, solving problems and reading & understanding academic papers and technical reports. We have no connection with the industries mentioned in this website, but have identified some really good existing ideas and come up with several completely new ones, which put together could solve the problem of global warming and restore the planet to safety.
